Connor’s Birth Announcement

Here’s the cross stitch birth announcement I did for Connor. It took me almost a year but I love how it turned out.

Finalist in Heart of the Rockies Contest

Just found out that my manuscript “The Picture of Dulce Garcia” is a finalist in the Young Adult category of the Colorado Romance Writers Heart of the Rockies contest. I’m so excited. My entry is now in the hands of Megan Records from Kensington. I’ve always wanted to visit Colorado – I’m going to try to attend their tea in October.

Behind the Scenes – NFL Cheerleader

I just watched an old episode of World of Jenks. Andrew Jenks travels to Nashville to spend some time with Jessi Peralta, a Tennessee Titans Cheerleader. You might remember Jessi from season 3 of So You Think You Can Dance and the Wade Robson Project. She’s just an amazing dancer. She left behind her dancing career in Los Angeles to move to Nashville to be a pro cheerleader. What I loved about this episode, is it showed not only the community service that Jessi did as a cheerleader, but the disrespectful way that many male fans treated her and the other girls. Jessi is so much more than a stereotype and I loved that she was portrayed as a compassionate woman and not just a sex symbol. Plus I’m dying to take a dance class from her. She’s fabulous.

Rescue Tail – Brody

I spend all my free time rescuing dogs from death row shelters. The first dog I ever rescued was not from a shelter though. Back in April 2009, a cute puggle was found running down Winchester Road by our vet tech named Sandy. She took him to her work and called us since we had 4 pug/mix dogs and asked if we could take him. We couldn’t but we didn’t want him to go to the shelter, so we took him to our place. Luckily, our pet sitter, Heather, wanted to adopt him and he found a home. She named him Brody.
